COMMITTEES

Association committees exist to help an organization NSPCA function more effectively by distributing work, gathering expertise, and representing member interests. In short, committees make associations more organized, inclusive, and capable of handling complex goals without overloading a single group of people.

Membership/Communications Committee - This committee develops and implements strategic plans to attract new members—through promotional materials and recruitment campaigns—while enhancing value for existing members to ensure high retention rates.

Responsibilities: 

  • Recruitment & Marketing: Creating marketing collateral (brochures, emails, website content) and running campaigns to attract new members.

  • Retention & Engagement: Developing programs, networking events, and onboarding processes (e.g., welcome packets) to keep members active and engaged.

  • Strategy & Feedback: Analyzing membership data and conducting surveys to understand member needs, improve member value, and inform board decision-making.

  • Brand Awareness: Promoting the association’s image and value proposition to the broader industry or community.

Conference Planning Committee – This committee develops the structure of the annual Spring conference to include speaker solicitations and coordinating with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture for continuing education credits (45-daysin advance of the conference). This committee is limited to five members.

Members: Past President, President, Past Treasurer, Treasurer, and Vendor Rep

Responsibilities:

  • Program Planning: Reviewing abstracts, selecting presenters, and coordinating the educational session schedule.

  • Logistics Oversight: Advising on site selection, scheduling, and room setups.

  • Financial Stewardship: Assisting association staff in developing and managing the annual conference budget.

  • Sponsorship and Promotion: Identifying potential sponsors, promoting the event through various media, and recruiting exhibitors.

Government Affairs Committee - The Government Affairs Committee acts as the association’s voice, monitoring legislative and regulatory issues to advocate for policies favoring members. It builds relationships with officials, develops strategic policy positions, and educates members on key governmental actions to ensure the association’s interests are represented.

Responsibilities:

  • Advocacy: Proactively shaping legislation and regulations at local, state, or federal levels.

  • Monitoring: Tracking policy developments and updating membership on relevant regulatory changes.

  • Engagement: Building relationships with lawmakers and engaging members in advocacy efforts.

  • Strategy: Developing the association's policy agenda and position papers.
